Rowan Bazley

Rowan Bazley's Untitled was bought by Ruth Borchard Collection in 2010. Bazley, born in London in 2000, was awarded a distinction from the Royal Drawing school and is currently studying Painting and Printmaking at The Glasgow School of Art. At present, Bazley's art is featured on Wondering People, a selective platform for emerging artists.

Bazley's work seeks to understand humanity through the acts of looking and drawing. His paintings and prints often feature figures or architectural structures, decontextualised in a way that renders his subjects familiar yet alien.

Bazley's self-portrait, articulated through pink pencil and 6B graphite pencil on paper, explores the familiar rather than the alien, turning his exploration to his own humanity, characteristically decontextualised.
