Roo & Em are a couple of non-professional artists with a belief in combining creative movement with visually effective videography and photography. A view from above. In this self-portrait a drone is set up above to freely record a natural animal adult playfulness of humans. Moving off the movement of the other the choreography is unrehearsed. Linking the natural world with Afro-Brazilian martial arts the self-portrait combines flowing animalistic movements with traditional techniques from capoeira martial arts. The self-portrait (a view from above) explores the vision & perspective into the way the body & mind feels, moves & flows in its natural elements. Freedom for the mind & the body. For the body, it's mindful movement in its most desired & natural way, for the mind it's imagination to flow & to create these movement patterns to match what it needs, desires & feels. It draws on the inherently social aspect of human existence. Two individuals, unrehearsed, able to move freely in the presence of another.
