Self-portraiture is like a window into the soul. After 25 years in AI I left to pursue art, to paint to be physically present and find balance. I aim to create physical tangible art that reflects people and the world around us. I have spent the past 4 years painting, and graduated from a contemporary painting atelier in 2021. Recently a surprising turnaround was that I needed to recognize the scientific side and inquire into portraits using machine learning. This piece is built from physical layers using my average face machine learned from 10 years of data. It is like peering into a holograph through an artistic layer. The colors shift and as you move you see different faces revealing themselves. It is incredibly hard to photograph and best seen in person.
