Self portrait in my everyday attire. My practice centres around painting the full figure with particular focus on posture and clothing. I am fascinated by the concept that a sitters choice of clothing for a portrait is carefully considered and is a direct statement of how they would like the world to perceive them. I also believe that by allowing the sitter to find a natural pose their posture demonstrates their current mood in that particular moment and this would vary from day to day even hour to hour. My paintings focus on these 2 main motifs as well as creating likenesses. Inspired by artists David Hockney and Yinka Ilori I use bold vibrant colours to make my portraits a celebration of the sitter.
