London based multimedia artist Bogomolova’s work has been showcased in exhibitions in the United Kingdom, Spain and France. Her paintings focus on technology and its impact on portraiture, particularly painting self-portraiture in juxtaposition with digital self portraiture online. Her portraits explore the conflict between images that public figures present of themselves on social media and the reality of daily life, illustrating not the idealized, filtered pictures and videos we typically see, but snapshots of private moments. Raw, unfiltered and intimate images in a familiar and comfortable environment which capture Bogomolova as an individual stripped of all appearances created for the public eye. Her evasive and ambiguous gaze questions the viewer's intrusion into her private space. Mundane moments of stillness infused with intense emotion, with a particular focus on feelings of loneliness, isolation and pressure to constantly upkeep an image of happiness for the camera. The side that the audience usually does not get to see.
