Esteemed art historian Philip Vann was interviewed by Nick Ahad of the Yorkshire Post about his recently published in-depth study of Ruth Borchard Collection, Face to Face: British Portraits in the Twentieth Century.
‘It was amazing that Ruth built up this extraordinary collection, she had a real interest in the work and collected it almost compulsively. The wonderful thing about the collection is the enormous range that is there. There work stretches from some very academic work, some are very poetic and it goes through to quite outrageous and abstract work,’ Vann told Ahad.
