Toby Rainbird is a Jersey-born, London Artist who explores quiet and intimate moments -focusing his attention on people and objects in contemplative, rested and fixed states. Rainbird's paintings are constructed through a combination of direct observation and imagination - often with the desire to focus solely on the individual in the image. As well as having his artwork bought by the Ruth Borchard Collection in 2019, Rainbird has exhibited at the National Open Arts, Royal West of England Academy, WAC Awards and Fringe Arts Bath. He is currently a Framer for the V&A Museum, and winner of the Henry Thomas Bosdet Award for Life Drawing, Robert Mcavoy Memorial Award for Art & Design and Bath School of Art & Design's Award in Outstanding Achievement in Fine Art. Included here are a selection of Rainbird's recent exploration of the figurative, combining direct observation with colourful imagination the works capture and portray a profound sense of calm.
