‘Emergence of Spring’ is a deeply personal piece that seeks to illustrate the fear and excitement surrounding human procreation and becoming a mother. It is difficult to put into words how one feels when undergoing enormous changes in life of this kind- but viewing oneself through the mirror of painting is evidently important to this process. By compelling myself to create this self portrait, I feel I am more readily able to come to terms with great evolution within my life - and the dangers and joys it brings."
