"This painting is based on a photograph of me capturing a moment in a conversation about my art practice. I was full of worry and self-doubt as to where my work was going. This is all part of the process, but it is always a challenge.
I use photographs as the basis for almost all of my work. Its ability to capture fleeting expressions, postures and light in a second is integral to my practice.
I spent about 80 hours on this work.
