I am not an Artist was completed in 2020. The original drawing making up the animation came first, a year or 2 previously. Then came the songs, as I sang to the objects in my studio and played with singing a still life, rather than drawing it. By overlaying the songs on top of each other, like the frames in an animation, something new emerged. My spoken voice over the top of everything bound the whole piece together: the drawing, the songs and the statement - I am not an Artist, I am not a Mother, I am not a Teacher, I am not a Lover. I am all of these and none. I draw, I breathe, I fly, I change. Like the drawing itself. Like life.
